Who We Are

Directing By Yu Xiao, Yu Dance Arts, a Richmond-based youth dance troupe. Our dance troupe focuses on creating and producing intercultural dances that combine Chinese traditional dances with Western modern aesthetics. Our fusion dance style presents an innovative look of Chinese dances. The mission of the Yu Dance Arts is to enrich Richmond community by presenting Chinese-American identity, preserving and increasing awareness of Chinese heritage, sharing Chinese culture and traditions as well as valuing other cultures and communities in the surrounding area.

• To promote the beauty and the philosophy of Chinese culture through learning the elegant movement of Chinese Dance. 
• To enrich the community by preserving, sharing, increasing awareness, expanding, and promoting the Chinese cultural heritage of the community members of Richmond and its surroundings, outreaching to create and renew ties with the extended communities around the world, while providing a home for local art endeavors.
• To provide a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for students, and for people in general, to share cultures, become more confident with their own identities, and explore new and foreign art forms
